Why is this swim class different than other swim classes?
Hawaii is a special place. The ocean water is unpredictable and can be dangerous for the unprepared swimmer. S.W.I.M. classes help children and adults feel comfortable and competent in the ocean not just with instruction but also education about Hawaii waters .
What should I expect on the first day of class?
Coach Shannon will excite and motivate in a fun and caring environment. We will make sure you are in the right level for your capabilities. You will be in the water each day so eat light before class.
What should I bring to class?
Please bring a towel, change of clothes, swim diaper (if not fully potty trained) and a water bottle for post pool hydration.
What is the guardian/parent's role while the child is in the pool?
The parent needs to stay while the child has a lesson. I recommend bringing a book. The 7th day has parental participation for beginner level.
Will I learn how to swim?
It is important not to compare your child/self to others. I can promise that swimming will get a great deal better and you or your child will have the skills to keep progressing. For children 3.5 or under, arm use is minimal, but at the appropriate level, different strokes will be learned.
